A Message From Chief Executive Officer

Dear Friends, 2019 was nothing short of amazing for the National Minority Quality Forum. Our Washington, D.C. based healthcare research, education and advocacy non-profit organization continues to live its mission to eliminate health disparities and build sustainable healthy communities.

Since 1998, we have collected over 5 billion patient records and have analyzed this data to address the most difficult issues across the healthcare continuum. We have addressed issues like the cost of medications, lack of diversity in the health workforce, challenges in clinical trials, the need for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) to be included in health research and various pharmaceutical therapies in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and sickle cell disease.

In addition to research, the Forum continues to serve the community. In 2019, we provided services to thousands, hosting community health clinics from Brooklyn to Sacramento and various points in between. Through our partnerships with Centene and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we have continued to work with Strong Youth Strong Community program and have educated state leaders in Alabama, Florida and Illinois on the need for more access to healthcare services.

Our marquee program, the Annual Summit on Health Disparities, brought 700 health care leaders from across the country to discuss solutions to the most difficult problems in this space. We also welcomed our fourth distinguished class of 40 Under 40 Leaders in Healthcare and honored some true leaders in healthcare. Xavier University of Louisiana received an award for its leadership in creating a more diverse healthcare workforce, Former Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin received the Booker T. Washington Award, and the 47th Vice President of the United States Joe Biden and the late Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente Bernard Tyson received our Lifetime Achievement Awards.
