National Minority Quality Forum Names Dr. LaTasha Lee New Vice President

National Minority Quality Forum announced today that Dr. LaTasha Lee, Ph.D., MPH, has been named Vice President of Clinical and Social Research and Development.

Dr. Lee was previously Senior Manager, Partnership Engagement for the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Research Collaborative Sickle Cell Disease Clinical Trials Network. In that role, she was responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders including patients, academic medical centers, research sites, industry and Federal agencies. Additionally, she was responsible for establishing a comprehensive patient engagement program for the network within the sickle cell community. Previously she was Manager of Sickle Cell Disease Policy and Programs where she helped launch the Society’s Multifaceted Sickle Cell Disease Initiative and the Sickle Cell Disease Coalition.

A scientist and public policy advisor with experience on Capitol Hill, Dr. Lee has worked with Congress and federal agencies to monitor biomedical research and access to care policy related to Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). At NMQF, she will focus on clinical and social application of NMQF data to impact better health outcomes.

“Dr. Lee will be an asset to the National Minority Quality Forum,” said Dr. Gary Puckrein, President and CEO of NMQF.

“Her extensive health background and business development skills will help to strengthen NMQF partnerships, develop strategic alliances and expand our presence,” said Puckrein. “I am also excited that one of our 40 Under 40 winners will officially join our staff. At NMQF, we are paving a way for our next generation of healthcare professionals to lead.”

For her work, Lee has received the aforementioned Top 40 Under 40 Leaders in Health honor, the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust Staff Leadership Award in recognition of efforts to end health disparities, and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Florida Atlantic University, among various other honors.

“I am very excited to be joining the NMQF team,” said Lee. “I believe this organization has done so much in healthcare, bringing disparities issues to the forefront and providing practical solutions to our biggest healthcare challenges. I look forward to working with such a talented team and the great organizations we work with.”

Lee earned a Ph.D. in Integrative Biology with an emphasis in Developmental Neuroscience at Florida Atlantic University. She obtained a master’s degree in Public Health from The George Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
